Special Guest of Honour: H.E Dr. Ida Odinga

Special Guest of Honour: H.E Dr. Ida Odinga

Her advocacy for women’s rights spans several decades. In 1991, she founded the League of Kenyan Women Voters, a movement aimed at increasing women’s participation in politics and leadership. She has also championed healthcare initiatives, including breast cancer awareness and fistula prevention campaigns, and has mentored countless young women through her various roles.

Dr. Ida Odinga’s commitment to social justice extends to legislative advocacy. In 2019, she was a vocal supporter of the Gender Bill, which sought to ensure greater representation of women in Kenya’s parliament, though the bill did not pass. Her influence, however, continues to be felt across various sectors of Kenyan society, from education and healthcare to political reform.

Her numerous contributions to Kenyan society have earned her several accolades, including the prestigious Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart, one of the highest civilian honors in Kenya. Her legacy as a champion for women’s rights, education, and health remains a beacon of empowerment for women and young girls across Kenya and beyond
